Sunday 1000hrs - Junior Church E-mail

Adel St John the Baptist is great with kids is in its junior church where there is a strong team of about 15 adults acting as group leaders on a rota (each Sunday consuming about 6 helpers) -

There are 5 different groups for all school age ranges:
- a creche for up to 2 years (all right, it's mostly just a square of carpet and some toys!),
Then three groups based on Living Stones by Susan Sayers:
- pebbles (ages 3-6 - lots of colouring in, sticking and fun with some discussion);
- rocks (ages 7-10 - more challenging, especially for the adult leaders!) and
- boulders (11-13 - proper bible study, and some games and stuff).
It all links in with the readings in "big church" so when they stand on the Chancel step and present their work it should kick home to the adults...

Then there's the teenage group, who were going to be called TeenAngels, but the boys didn't like that (I think it should be called the sheep dip, or Thank God its Sunday/TGIS but I can't see them liking those either!) and ended up getting called senior junior church (rubbish!) where they have an open discussion and prayer group with a couple of adults who are not parents to kids in that group. Here they discuss things like The Simpsons or Harry Potter and God; the problems of being a teenager and misunderstood etc etc.

Junior Church is run in term time, with the exception of the third Sunday in the month when Senior Church is different (non-Eucharistic, pure worship service). Come along and try it - we've always got visitors (grandchildren / friends of friends / cousins etc) passing through and we can always do with new and younger (although we had a two week old in on Sunday - they don't get much younger than that!) blood.

Sundays at 1000hrs in The Old Stables, which gives Mum and Dad a chance to listen to the Readings and Sermon in peace for half an hour or so before the children join the service in church for the last thirty minutes. (The senior juniors slink off immediately after communion back to the stables to continue their discussions over an early coffee / tea and biscuit)
