Yorkshire Day 1st August 2010 will be hosted by Hedon Town Council. Invites will be sent direct from the Mayor to Yorkshire Society Members. Guests will arrive at the Alexandra Hall in Hedon from 8.30am onwards and be welcomed by Cllr. Mrs Brenda Goldspink and her Consort Tom Goldspink, together with Keith Madeley, Chairman of the Yorkshire Society and his wife Chris. At 10.00am guests assemble in St Augustine's Gate to form the parade to proceed to St Augustine's Church for the Annual Service led by the Band of the 150th (Yorkshire) Transport Regimental Band. 11.00am will be the start of the Service of Praise and Thanksgiving with the Bishop of Hull giving the Sermon.
The Commemorative Group Photograph will be taken on Market Hill, followed by the Civic Luncheon to be served in the Alexandra Hall. For those able to stay later further celebrations will take place from 6.00pm on Market Hill, featuring a Jazz Concert Band, Hog Roast, various stalls and fireworks to end the very special day. If anyone has not received an invitation, do have a word with me and I will find out if there are any vacancies.
