One of the great privileges of ordained ministry is having the opportunity to share with people in the significant moments of life. The ‘occasional offices' is the collective term used within the church to describe these events, and covers the three important rites of passage: baptisms, weddings and funerals.
At this time of the year we find ourselves in the ‘high-season' for at least two of the three. The summer months are the most popular, for obvious reasons, in which to celebrate a baptism or wedding and these occasions are always filled with great joy and excitement. |

Adel Crag Association undertakes Spinney improvements |

You will recall that last year we were asking for volunteers of all ages to help improve the woodland public footpath, known as the ‘The Spinney', from the entrance off Long Causeway through to Tile Lane. The good news is that a number of volunteers have shown interest. We met recently with Abigail Buckle, the Adel Crag Youth Representative, who put forward for consideration some suggestions as to what could be done in the woodland. These include a tree trail, nest box building, litter picking and many more activities for all ages in this beautiful woodland area, to be undertaken in a 2-3 hour period. Parks and Countryside are working in partnership with Adel Crag Community Association. |

As usual, school is a very busy place, lots of familiar activities but also some which years ago would never have of happened. One of these was "Sam's Safari". The Reception Class children had opportunities to hold or just observe.lots of 'minibeasts' .Every child was given the opportunity to hold an Arizona King snake, but not surprisingly, not all took the opportunity , and amazingly, not all the staff held it either! |
